Wounded landscapes speak to me. They teach me about kinship, ecology, and community. They carry story and folklore, sensitivity and politics. In my work, I aim to hold violence, resistance, and softness in tension. I address themes such as ecocide, colonialism, and family. I am especially interested in scars on the Land, and the stories and energy these places carry.
I am a storyteller, artistic researcher, and filmmaker, and express myself primarily through audiovisual media and installation. Next to my education in Fine Art, I have a background in Political Science. Within this field, I am specialised in human security and gender-based violence.
Sound is playing an increasingly important role in my work. I am currently researching how to employ Land-based listening and listening to lower frequencies as a decolonial and artistic tool. In my work, I aim to listen to and amplify the voice of the Land.
Co-creation and friendship are focus points within my practice. I work closely with Aboriginal Elders, lawholders, fellow activists, and grassroots organisations. Care for the people I work with and the Land I work on underpins anything I create.
