In this research report, I address human-tree relations: those of Arboreal kinship and custodianship, and imperial slow violence. I explore how the camera and audio recorder can damage the existing colonial and ecocidal system and support the creation of a nascent decolonial system that centers the authority of Country (The Land), and Aboriginal sovereignty.
Oral story by Djabwurrung Songwoman Yaraan Couzens-Bundle and Krauatungalung Elder Uncle Robbie Thorpe forms the main source of information in this research. This is supported by my own experience of visiting and documenting the Djabwurrung Narram Narram (Birthing) Trees, as well as zines and academic sources.
This publication supports my graduation work Witness (2026), and is written, designed, and bound by me.
